Getting Around Martha's Vineyard Island

Once you have arrived on Martha's Vineyard, there are several options for getting around the island. There are many private cab companies available on-island with cabs on-site at the ferry terminals, Martha's Vineyard airport, and hotels as well as on-call service anywhere on the island.

For the adventurous travelers, bike rentals are available throughout the island. There are bike paths connecting each of the down-island towns of Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven.

Car rentals are also available on-island at rental sites near the Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs ferry terminals as well as the Martha's Vineyard Airport.

There is also a public bus service run by the Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) that operates in each of the island towns. Fares are $1 per town, including the town of origin and 1, 3, and 7-day passes are available. For bus schedules and more information, visit www.vineyardtransit.com.
